Why I Do What I Do
I have always had an aptitude for numbers and a genuine desire to help people achieve their goals, so a move into the Banking and Finance sector seemed like a logical choice for me. I enjoy working with people from all different backgrounds and financial circumstances. Whilst I have specialised in complex financial circumstances over the years, I really also enjoy helping “Mum and Dads” to achieve both their personal and financial goals.
Over the decades, I have seen people who earn good money not be able to retire on time or not achieve the retirement that they desire because they just do what everyone else seems to do. Just going through the motions doesn’t work. I made a decision to not be one of those people a long time ago, and now I enjoy sharing my knowledge and experiences with others. I really enjoy using my skills and knowledge to put together a workable solution that will genuinely help to improve people’s lives.
A Few Things About Me
I had the opportunity to experience different cultures when I was growing up as my Father worked with the Australian Embassy. We were posted to a number of countries, such as Malaysia, Thailand, and Saudi Arabia. It leads to some very interesting adventures and great memories. My parents moved back to Australia prior to my Sister and I finish high school as they wanted us to have an Australian high school education, where we finished our schooling in the Northern Beaches of Sydney.
I started my career in Credit Management and then moved into Business Development, to later be promoted to a number of more senior roles such as State Manager, National Sales Manager, and General Manager roles. I have been a Senior Financial Planner for over 10 years now and in the financial services industry for almost 30 years. I am passionate about helping people to achieve their goals and working with them through their various life stages.
I am grateful to have a fantastic wife, Dee, and two teenage kids, Annika and Josh. Spending quality time with my family is very important to me, and seeing the kids grow up into the young adults that they have become is very rewarding for me.
In my spare time, I will also be found organising and leading (or just attending) sports motorcycle group rides. I have been quite active in sports motorcycle groups over the years on various rides around Sydney most weekends. My family often comes along with me. My family and I are also car enthusiasts and attend car shows fairly regularly with our classic car. I also enjoy tinkering with my cars and bikes.
My whole family are gym junkies. Dee and I train together early in the morning and rarely miss a day. We are big into our weights and health and fitness generally.
Family activities like dinners out together, going on walks and just hanging out together are also high on the agenda.
